Scents of Possibility: How Women in STEM Inspired Za Za Scent’s Mission
Women's History Month was when I had my awakening about the remarkable women in STEM and their vital contributions to humanity. While sitting in a planning meeting at Procter & Gamble with talented female leaders preparing for International Women's Day, I had a revelation. Coming from an arts background into Research & Development, I was astonished by the obstacles my colleagues had overcome in their STEM careers. That day changed my perspective, and my admiration for extraordinary women in STEM has only deepened since.
This meeting sparked the idea for Za Za’s Scent-Sational Super Power. I suddenly realized there's an entire career pathway that many young people never discover during their formative years. I myself had never considered the possibility of working in cosmetics, perfumery, or flavors—fields where art and science beautifully merge.
My mission now is simple: introduce children to the world of fragrance and flavors early in life. I am passionate that Za Za Scents’ STEM Activities and Stories can be an fun, yet educational way-in to this beautiful industry.
By sparking curiosity about STEM-inspired futures, who knows what might happen? Perhaps the next Fragrance Foundation (FiFi) award winner or Chemistry Nobel Prize recipient might be finger painting in pre-school right now.
